Gene Tierney.....to distract you from the aural scars of having heard the Black Eyed Peas sing in the Superbowl!!

Something pretty...someone pretty...ANYTHING, anything to just distract from the SUPER MAJOR SUCKAGE of having to hear the SUPER MAJOR SUCKAGE of the Black Eyed Peas "performing" in the Superbowl half time show....Oh, the HORROR!! (Even with all of the Autotune, it's still like hearing the sound of a prison rape combined with the explosion of the Hindenburg)

  1. Halftime was pretty bad. But later during "Glee," the cast doing "See the USA in Your Chevrolet" was pretty brilliant.

  2. Ahh, I didn't see it :( I had an early morning, so I was off to the ZZZZzzzzz's. Half time and Christina fluffing the National Anthem were quite the hot steaming turd, though........ :)

  3. Nice distraction! Marvelous photos you dug up here. I stumbled across your blog a month or so ago and am just now getting a chance to really browse through everything and I'm loving it! Lots of great music I'm being introduced to. I originally came across and downloaded the Baby Rose Marie songs you had shared - what a find!! SO EXCITED about those - thank you for spreading the love. :)

  4. It was a fun little post! I enjoyed finding them and putting them out there :)Interesting....we're you searching for Baby Rose Marie? wow....I actually wondered if anyone would like that. I LOVE her intense little voice as a kid. I loved her as an adult, but wow....that wasn't a kid's voice at all... :0 I remember playing some of it for my daughter, and mind you, she's a pretty serious singer for a 12 year old (opera/choral/classical)...she was kinda open mouthed..."That's NOT a little kid! that's either an old midget, or they speeded that up....that's not a kid!!" I showed her one of the videos, and she was still open mouthed....lol.

  5. LOL! Well, I can understand the midget reference, haha. At points, she sort of does sound that way. Reminds me a little bit of that kid who sang the Hippo for Christmas song, but Rose Marie's voice is much more polished. I don't remember exactly how I found that post - I've been obsessed with Hulu lately and watching all the seasons of the Dick Van Dyke show, and I think I was just reading about the history of the show when I saw it mentioned that Rose Marie was a child singer. Then I probably googled Baby Rose Marie or something. Anyway, I was THRILLED to download those songs. My favorite is Don't Be Like That, it was stuck in my head last night. She was amazingly talented. I played the songs for my dad last night and he had me put them on a flash drive for him right away so he could have them!

And your daughter - she sounds like quite a kid! I don't have kids yet, but if/when I do, they will be immersed in all things vintage as well. :)

  6. I just wish I had more of her, ya know? I'm going to put some detective work into that and tell you what I find. My daughter grumbles about most things vintage, but she's been surrounded by that her whole life, so I imagine that she's just being 12, partly. It does influence her taste in music, certainly. A bunch of her friends were over discussing what songs they were going to use for a recent audition, and she redirected a few of them into my archives to listen to things before they went to go search for arrangements and sheet music, so I do know she IS listening :) For a long time, she claimed to never like having to be in dusty warehouses and at auction with me and my customers....until she realized that being young and cute, a lot of these old collectors were quite happy to pay her for just being around and running coffee and food errands for them ;) Kids....lol.

  7. Oh yeah, I would LOVE to know if you find anymore Baby Rose Marie. I "followed" your blog, so you will probably just have to leave a comment on one of my blog posts, since I don't think I have my email connected to my blogspot account. Either that or connect on Facebook, I'll link you to my page if you do that. Would really appreciate the heads up either way though!

And I would say it's quite a compliment for your kid to refer her friends to your blog! I'm sure she'll be especially grateful for all the exposure to this stuff when she's older. I love it that she gets side jobs out of the deal, haha! :)
