1967 Bobbie Gentry "Ode to Billie Joe"
Just an outstanding debut album all around!....I had to post Bobbie Gentry's 1967 debut, "Ode to Billie Joe". Everyone knows the title cut, I'm sure, but the rest of the album carries along the same Mississippi Delta vibe quite nicely as well. All the songs were written by her, but "Niki Hoeky". She didn't have a major recorded output, but everything she did was excellent, and very original. Even her duets with Glen Campbell were exceptional, IMHO. She still seems under appreciated, and should get more attention than for just "Ode".....this is a great release...enjoy.
