What a nice group of images. I think you could do a book made up of the things people used to do in memory of those they loved. Much too costly to do that anymore, plus most of us want cremation instead. Some of the expressions are so poignant and peaceful. Thank you for sharing, and have the best of holidays.
Beautiful photography. The Chicago Ghost Hunters Group often visits Rosehill Cemetery and other locations throughout Illinois. Resurrection Cemetery Mausoleum is the largest stained glass structure in the United States. It is well worth the trip.
I worked there for quite a few years, before working for Drake and Sons and Rowland Home for Funerals. That Cemetery holds a special place for me, and I still visit it often. David Wendell, the former historian and archivist at Rosehill was a great guy to learn the history from. :)
Wow! Ethereal & surreal, exquisite beauty no less. Cemeteries Rock!
ReplyDeletePS: Long time no look (here) sorry, too busy to blog recently but glad I took the trouble to look in here. Keep it up & all the best Barbie.
Thanks! hope your holidays are wonderful! :)
