Timi Yuro was great. When I DJ and play her version of "Fever", people assume it's Dinah Washington.
ReplyDeleteOne of my faves....It took a few years to reconcile the similarity in her voice with that of Dinah. I started realizing just how many young singers sounded like Dinah during that era...both white and black, especially Esther Phillips. A lot of girl singers grew up listening to, and imitating her, until their own styles emerged, I think.
