Blame Canada!! (not really...I'm just on a South Park trip) Songs from Canadian Artists......

Blame Canada.....no, not really. Having so much family in Canada, I could hardly ever have anything against Canada....lol. I've just been on this South Park thing, lately. I was listening to all the songs from the series the other night, and was LMFAO at the song "Blame Canada"....soooo, me being me, I decided to throw together a little set of tunes by artists from Canada. No, not Neil Young, Joni Mitchell, kd Lang, Leonard Cohen, or Rush....the artists you usually think of when people talk about musicians from the Great White North....certainly NOT Celine Dion (I have an irrational dislike of Celine...maybe it's her Adam's Apple...whatever...THAT'S another novel for another time)....anywhooo....Canada....here are a few artists that maybe you didn't know were Canadian.....that said....here's the set....enjoy!

Here's the link:

Here's the tunage:

Diana Krall (with Natalie Cole)-Better Than
Here is the British Columbia native, Diana Krall, in a totally effervescent duet with Natalie Cole, from the 2002 CD, "Collaborations".

Michael Buble (with Holly Palmer)-Down with Love
Another native of BC, Michael Buble, in the title track of the 2003 Renee Zellweger/Ewan McGregor comedy "Down with Love". The female singer heard here with Michael is the amazing, under-appreciated, Holly Palmer...who should be famous, but isn't. Someday I should devote a set to just her music....amazingly talented woman.

Alpha Yaya Diallo-Fissiriwaly
Alpha Yaya Diallo is a Juno Award winning guitarist and composer who is based in Vancouver.  Alpha hails from Guinea and incorporates its rich musical tradition into his original compositions....."Fissiriwaly"  kicks ass...gr8 tune.

Sarah Harmer-The Hideout
From Burlington, Ontario...Sarah Harmer is another very talented singer, you don't hear as much about as you should. Every thing I've heard from her I like. Give this a listen, maybe you will, too. from the 2000 CD, "You were here".

Remy Shand-The way I feel
From the 2002 Motown records CD, "The way I feel". Shand is from Winnipeg, MB. A multi talented R&B vocalist and instrumentalist.

Tegan & Sara-Call it off
The Calgary, Alberta based band led by identical twins Tegan Rain Quin,  and Sara Kiersten Quin. From the 2007 CD, "The Con".

Holly Cole-Jersey Girl
The Halifax, Nova Scotia born jazz singer is known for both her versatile and distinctive voice, and her adventurous repertoire, which spans such divergent genres as show tunes, rock, and country music. This song is from "Temptation", a tribute album to Tom Waits. It was released in 1995.

Justin Bieber-One less lonely girl
Oh, lord....what to say, what to say. Hmmm....the ADORABLE Justin Bieber. This song is on here, because my 12 year old daughter just lovvvves the Stratford,  Ontario born  Justin Bieber....lol!! This is from his 2009 debut CD, "My World".

Vanity 6-Nasty Girl
Ahaaa! you thought of Vanity 6 as being all Prince/Minneapolis-ish. No....Denise Katrina Matthews,   (AKA Vanity) is from Niagra Falls, Ontario....lol.

Daniel Lanois-Pour Ton Sourir
The  record producer, guitarist  and singer-songwriter is from Hull, Quebec. He has released a number of albums of his own work and has produced albums for a wide variety of artists, including Bob Dylan, Parachute Club, U2, Brian Eno, Peter Gabriel, Emmylou Harris,Willie Nelson, Scott Weiland, SinĂ©ad O'Connor, Robbie Robertson, the Neville Brothers, Chris Whitley, Ron Sexsmith, Martha and the Muffins and Nash the Slash. This is from the 2001 CD, "Groundwork: Act To Reduce Hunger".

Jane Siberry (with Jam Nation)-Harmonix
From the 1993 release "Way Down Below Buffalo Hell". Ms. Siberry is a singer-songwriter from Toronto.

Feist-Sea Lion Woman (Chromeo Remix)
Leslie Feist is from Amherst, Nova Scotia. This is the Chromeo remix of the track "Sealion" from the Deluxe Edition 2nd disc bonus tracks of the 2007 CD, "The Reminder".

South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut Sound track-Blame Canada
Now, you know I couldn't do this set without the glorious "Blame Canada", from South Park!! Ooooo, enjoy!! (all in fun, tho).

Sarah Slean-Comfortably Numb
A cover  of Pink Floyd's "Comfortable Numb" from the "Pink Floyd Redux A New Music Experience" CD. The simply amazing singer/songwriter/painter/photographer/pianist, Sarah Slean is a native of Pickering, Ontario.

Deborah Cox-Did You Ever Love Me
I bet you didn't know that this R&B singer-songwriter and actress is from Toronto....now ya do. This is from her 5th release, "The Promise", in 2008.

Gino Vannelli-I Just Wanna Stop
A top 10 US hit for the Quebec born Vannelli, in 1978.

Nick Gilder-Hot Child in the city
Born in London, England, but raised in Vancouver, Nick Gilder had a #1 US hit with this song in 1978. I must admit that I totally HATED this song in Junior High School....it has, however, grown on me a tad bit over the years....lol.

So, here ya go....and, if you DON'T like the set....don't blame me.....BLAME CANADA!!! bwahahahaaaa!!
